Networks and Institutions

The European Lifelong Guidance Policy Network, ELGPN, aims to assist the European Union Member States and the Commission in moving European cooperation on lifelong guidance forward in both the education and the employment sectors. The purpose is to promote cooperation at Member State level on lifelong guidance and to propose appropriate structures and support mechanisms in implementing the priorities identified in the EU Resolutions on Lifelong Guidance.

The International Association of Educational and Vocational Guidance,  IAEVG, is a worldwide guidance and counselling organisation, whose mission is to promote the development and quality of educational and vocational guidance. IAEVG’ s mission is also to ensure that all citizens who need and want educational and vocational guidance and counselling can receive this counselling from a competent and recognized professional. IAEVG publishes the International Journal for Educational and Vocational Guidance and arranges annual conferences around the world

The European Centre for development of vocational training, Cedefop, runs development work in the area of Lifelong Guidance. Their research is concerned with the changing needs of individuals along their lives and careers. Recent studies have been developed addressing the specific needs of youth, middle aged workers and learners as well as older people. Lifelong guidance strategies and methodologies for the labour market integration of migrants have also been researched.

The European Association for International Education , EAIE, is a centre for expertise, networking and resources in the internationalisation of higher education. 

The International Centre for Career Development and Public Policy, ICCDPP, has the task to facilitate international sharing of knowledge and information concerning public policy and career development issues. ICCDPP has a base for knowledge and information which contains proceedings from international symposia, and reports and news provided to the site by the users and by other international contacts.

The International Association for Counselling, IAC, encourages the exchange of ideas, research findings and personal experience in the field of counselling and guidance. This happens, among others, through organising conferences and publishing the International Journal for the Advancement of Counselling.

The Network for Innovation in Career Guidance and Counselling (NICE). Academic network for cooperation and development of career guidance education within higher education in Europe.

The Nordic network for adult learning (NVL) has the objective to strive towards promoting lifelong learning by focusing on cross-sectoral cooperation in the priority areas defined by the Nordic Council of Ministers. Guidance is one area for cooperation and several report about guidance related issues have been published.

The Nordic Association of Educational and Vocational Guidance, NAEVG, is a coalition of national associations for education and vocational guidance in the Nordic countries and the self-governing areas of Aaland Islands and Faeroe Islands. The aim of NAEVG is to strengthen professional educational and vocational guidance in Nordic countries. NAEVG organizes seminars and conferences and develops cooperation with the Baltic countries.

The World Association of Public Employment Services, WAPES, aims to be a platform for contacts and information exchange between member countries. Workshops are organised regularly in Wapes five different regions on themes that are relevant to the labor authorities in each region, such as career guidance.
